Hidden gem in Flores: Ixpanpajul Nature Park

This is my last post about Guatemala. Check out my other posts for tips about Tikal, Yaxha and more!

Canopy bridges, zip lining, hiking and horseback riding — there’s something for everyone at Ixpanpajul Nature Park in Flores, Peten, Guatemala. Plus, round trip transportation is included in the park’s fees!

We opted for the canopy bridge hike, but met other visitors who had a great time riding horses and zip lining.

The trail loop takes you through 6 canopy bridges, some nearly 400 feet long. The path is nestled within the trees and steep in places. It gets hot, so bring lots of water. When you get to the top, you’ll be greeted with stunning views, hammocks, tables and a bathroom. It’s a great place to relax and have a snack before you head back down.

Overall, the hike took us about 2 hours, including the 15 minutes we spent resting in hammocks.

One thing to keep in mind: the price I was quoted online did not match what they charged me in person. I suspect it’s because I was very obviously a tourist and don’t speak good Spanish. That said, no regrets. I loved Ixpanpajul and definitely recommend adding it to your list of things to do in Flores.
